How We Started

Founded by Long Beach native Evelyn Avila in April 2023, the Long Beach Walking Club has swiftly emerged as a beacon of wellness, community service, and camaraderie along the picturesque shores of Long Beach. Evelyn's unwavering dedication to her community was recently lauded with The Spirit of Downtown Long Beach award in 2024, a testament to the club's steadfast commitment to creating positive change.

Who We Are

Beyond being just a social club, the Long Beach Walking Club is a volunteer-led community organization focused on promoting wellness and social connections through organized walks and events in and around Long Beach, California. Our goal is to explore new areas of Long Beach, make new friends, exercise, and foster a sense of community among members.

The club is currently in the process of applying for nonprofit status, which will officially recognize us as a 501(c)(3) organization. Until then, we operate with a nonprofit structure, reinvesting all proceeds from merchandise and ticket sales back into the club to support our activities and mission.

By participating in our organized walks, themed events, and volunteer activities, we not only improve our own health but also contribute to the well-being of the city. The Long Beach Walking Club is dedicated to cultivating a healthier and livelier Long Beach, one step at a time.

What We Believe In

Our club stands on three pillars:

Wellness: Central to our ethos is the promotion of wellness and self-care. We prioritize the health and vitality of our members by organizing regular walks, engaging in fitness activities, and championing holistic wellness initiatives. Through movement, we empower each other to lead richer, more fulfilling lives.

Service: We are firm believers in the transformative power of service. Driven by a deep-seated commitment to giving back, we coordinate drives, volunteer projects, and charitable events that benefit our local community. Together, we strive to create meaningful, lasting impacts on the lives of those around us.

Community: Beyond merely walking together, we foster genuine connections and a sense of belonging among our members. Built on a foundation of trust, support, and friendship, our club transcends its physical activities. Monthly social hours provide opportunities for members to bond and forge lasting relationships beyond the walking trails.

Every event organized by the Long Beach Walking Club is rooted in these core values of wellness, service, and community. Whether it's a leisurely Sunday stroll along the beach or a midweek exploration of city streets, each activity aims to enrich the lives of our members and contribute to the betterment of our community.
